R.I.P Walkman

29 Oct

Word is that another one of our childhood gadgets is on its way to becoming extinct.

Sony has just announced that they’re stopping production of the cassette Walkman, which has been around since 1979.

If you’re determined to get your hands on the old-school Walkman, you’ll have to look to Asia and the Middle East, where Chinese manufacturers are still selling them.

Even though we haven’t used a Walkman in years, we’re still a little nostalgic for the days when we’d spend long car trips and plane rides listening to full-length tapes.

If the Walkman’s days are over, what other retro tech tool do you think will be next?
